It has been too long between golf trips. Bethpage Black seems sooo long ago. I have made some changes to the bag for this week. Here is the run down on what sticks I will be bringing into battle.

The Ringer...

Published in Untagged  by mriquier |

I am writing you from my seat 14-A on my Southwest flight to Hartford CT. The past two weeks have turned our world upside down. Not to go into too much detail, three family members are very sick (all at the same time) and my car was wrapped around a light pole last week. YIKES! So if the content has been slow here at BigForeGolf.com I am sorry for that but we are getting back in the "swing" of things.

What am I doing in Connecticut you ask? I was asked by Linda from L&R Marketing to help her scramble team win the 2009 Windham Chamber of Commerce event. This gave us the idea for the "Book a Ringer". I'm a bit worried about my game seeing that I have not even picked up a club in two weeks. Well I did move them around the house a few times and the last time I was on the course the "hooks" showed their ugly face. I was able to fix this by moving the ball back in my stance which makes me hit more of a push draw.

We will be playing at the home course of the UCONN Huskies and this is also where I played my high school golf. The course is short but tree lined and has a number of "postage stamp" greens.  This trip is coming at a great time because I just needed to get away and catch up on my golf and BigForeGolf. I will keep everyone updated to our progress and check back for more information on the course. TTYL

British Open Hangover...

Published in PGA Tour by rloomi |

I seem to have a British Open hangover today. It was one of the best Open’s in a long time! There was John Daly strutting down the fairway in his crazy pants contending again in a major championship. Tiger falling apart and missing the cut shocked the golf world. A 59 year old was battling it out at the top of the leaderboard with a chance to make history and seal the single greatest Open performance ever. It was crazy to see Tiger miss the cut but at the same time it cleared the stage….and the television time for us to watch the incredible story developing.

The final round was a day full of twists and turns as it seemed like every two holes there was a different leader. Ross Fisher birdied the first two holes and found himself with a 2 stroke lead. His wife was expecting and he stood by his claim that if he got the call that she went into labor….he would leave the tournament even if leading. I thought about how intriguing of a story that would be but instead Fisher went on to make an 8 a few holes later and taking him out of the hunt. Playing a few groups ahead of the leaders was Stewart Cink. He was right there all day but flew under the radar as he was always a couple strokes behind. After missing short birdie putts on 16 and 17, Cink gutted a birdie out on the last hole to get in the clubhouse at -2.
