As I was enjoying the sunshine today I was able to experience a group teaching lesson.  The concept was phenomenal 6 to 8 people all working to become better golfers.  The initial question I had was: How are you going to teach all of these people if they each have different faults?

The teaching pro I was with has that down PAT!

During the course of this lesson he introduced me , Larry Callaway, the resident Doctor who specialized in golf.

One of the Participants asked, “What am I doing to have added stress on my body with this drill?”

  1. Improper Balance. He was keeping too much weight on his back foot throughout the entire swing causing reverse spine angle.
  2. Moving Arms and Torso and No Hips. His pelvis was staying at the approach position and not rotating properly throughout the swing.
  3. Stopping Follow Through Short.  He was attempting to create a chip shot but was abruptly stopping his swing instead of having a smooth shorter arc.

After addressing these three points, of course I had them approved by the teaching professional, he instantly noticed a decrease stress on his body.

Conclusion: In order to decrease stress on the body, it is imperative to determine biomechanical faults and correct them to enable the swing to be as stress free as possible.
