Hit the Fairway

So many mid handicap golfers seem to be able to hit the ball far but are lacking accuracy off the tee with their driver. I believe this is due to the longer drivers we see out there compared to years ago and I think they are having trouble handling the longer drivers. 6 to 8 years ago the average driver was 43" and now we see golfers trying to play 47" drivers. Yes it is easier to hit it far but the fact is it becomes very hard to hit it consistently accurate.

TOUR pro's usually only have drivers that measure no more than 45" because the don't want to sacrafice the accuracy for a couple extra yards. If you are really struggling hitting the driver in a round of golf, do something you probably never even tried. Choke down on the driver even if it's down to the metal on the shaft. I never see anyone try this - but it can help you start hitting the golf ball a bit more solid. By shortening the club - you have just made the club easier to swing.
